Installation begins with detailed load calculation based on building square footage, ceiling height, window area and orientation, insulation value, occupancy density, and internal heat sources from equipment or lighting. We assess installation location—ground-level pad or rooftop—and design appropriate structural support. Ground-level concrete pads are properly sized, sloped for drainage, and positioned away from vegetation that blocks airflow. Rooftop units require engineered roof curbs that distribute weight across roof framing with proper flashing to prevent leaks. / We coordinate all building connections: supply and return ductwork to and from the unit with proper sizing to avoid excessive pressure drop and noise, gas supply line from the building's main meter with shut-off valve and pressure regulator, flue pipe venting combustion gases safely to the exterior with minimum height clearance, and electrical service from the main panel to the unit's disconnect. All ductwork joints are sealed to prevent air leakage and efficiency loss. For ground-level units in harsh environments, we specify corrosion-resistant paint or epoxy coating to extend cabinet life. / We commission every packaged unit installation by measuring supply and return air volumes and verifying they match equipment design specifications—improper airflow reduces cooling and heating capacity significantly. We check refrigerant charge using pressure and temperature measurement, adjusting if necessary based on outdoor ambient temperature and indoor load conditions. On gas units, we verify proper burner ignition and flame, measure flue gas temperature and oxygen content to confirm safe and efficient combustion, check all gas connections for leaks, and verify gas pressure matches equipment requirements. We calibrate the thermostat for accurate setpoint control and test both heating and cooling cycles to confirm proper operation. / For existing packaged unit repair and maintenance, we handle refrigerant leaks from outdoor coil corrosion, compressor failure, condenser fan motor problems, furnace burner ignition failures on gas units, gas pressure regulation issues, thermostat malfunction, ductwork noise and vibration, and structural pad degradation. Annual maintenance—essential for warranty coverage and equipment longevity—includes cleaning condenser coils clogged with leaves and dirt that reduce cooling efficiency, inspecting and replacing air filters, checking refrigerant pressures and temperatures, testing burner ignition and combustion quality on gas units, lubricating fan motors, checking capacitor voltage, and inspecting the concrete pad or roof curb for corrosion, settling, or loose mounting bolts. We troubleshoot common failures including refrigerant leaks from outdoor coil corrosion, blower motor bearing failure from lack of lubrication, clogged condenser coils reducing capacity, furnace burner deposits preventing ignition, and thermostat drift causing improper temperature control.
